A summer school programme is the perfect blend of fun and learning for students!
As we all know, OSS is not purely about academic studies and scoring As, it is also the cultural experience we are immersed in. This article will explore the exciting part about living in a foreign campus!
In the second of our Overseas Summer School sharing series, we feature two of our UniSIM students who ventured into Beijing. Here is what they have to say!
When the UCatalyst team asked the students on any recommendations on the must-see locations in the country, Year 2 Accountancy student Anne Wong mentioned that exquisite tourist spots like The Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, and Nanluoguxiang are places definitely worth a visit! Apart from that, famous shopping districts like Xidan and Wangfujing should definitely be on your itinerary! She had also tried the famous Hai Di Lao Hot Pot in China and was awed by their excellent service and warm hospitality. The steamboat restaurant did live up to their reputation and it was definitely one of her most memorable experiences.

Accommodation wise, a great place to stay in is the Global Village, which is PKU’s student hostel. Here’s what Anne has to say about it – “I would recommend it as it is a walking distance from the school, and the environment is very safe. The room is well-maintained too!” In addition to the student hostel, there are a lot more living accommodations which are not located far away from the school. Selections are widely available, you can simply use Airbnb as a reliable site to find the place of your choice.
